About the Role

Digital Infrastructure | London (Remote Initially) | Potential to Become Permanent

We are supporting a well-capitalised, high-growth digital infrastructure business with the appointment of an Interim Head of Finance.

The business is at an early stage of its development, with ambitious plans to scale operations internationally. Operating in a capital-intensive environment, it is investing in infrastructure and technology assets to support growing customer demand.

Reporting directly to the CFO, this is an opportunity to establish the finance function from the ground up, taking ownership of financial accounting, reporting, controls and day-to-day finance operations.

The position will suit someone who enjoys building rather than inheriting established processes, is comfortable operating independently and combines strong technical accounting knowledge with a practical, commercially minded approach.

Key Responsibilities

  • Establish and manage the day-to-day finance function, developing appropriate processes, controls and reporting frameworks.

  • Take ownership of monthly management accounts, financial reporting and group reporting requirements.

  • Manage financial accounting across multiple international entities, ensuring compliance with relevant accounting standards and local regulatory requirements.

  • Assess complex commercial contracts, applying appropriate accounting treatment to revenue recognition, leases and contractual commitments.

  • Oversee fixed asset accounting, capital expenditure, asset capitalisation and depreciation policies.

  • Coordinate international tax, VAT and statutory compliance requirements, working with external advisers where appropriate.

  • Develop financial models, reporting templates and management information to support business growth.

  • Support the selection and implementation of finance systems as the organisation scales.

  • Work closely with the CFO on financial planning, commercial decision-making and the continued development of the finance function.

Candidate Requirements

  • Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA or equivalent) with a strong technical financial accounting background.

  • Experience operating within an international or multi-entity business, ideally across European jurisdictions.

  • Good knowledge of IFRS, particularly IFRS 15 (revenue recognition) and IFRS 16 (lease accounting).

  • Experience accounting for significant capital expenditure, fixed assets and complex commercial arrangements.

  • Understanding of international VAT, tax and statutory reporting requirements.

  • Comfortable developing financial reporting and controls without the support of established ERP systems or large finance teams.

  • Strong Excel skills, with the ability to build practical and scalable reporting processes.

  • Commercially aware, adaptable and capable of balancing detailed accounting responsibilities with broader financial priorities.

Experience within digital infrastructure, telecommunications, energy, utilities, real estate, or other capital-intensive sectors would be advantageous, although candidates from other international businesses with complex accounting and reporting requirements will also be considered.

Previous experience establishing or developing a finance function within a start-up or rapidly scaling business would be particularly relevant.

The Opportunity

This is an interim appointment with the potential to transition into a permanent position as the business develops.

The successful candidate will play a central role in establishing the financial foundations of a growing international business, with considerable autonomy, direct exposure to the CFO and the opportunity to develop systems, processes and a finance team over time.

Location: London, working remotely initially, with future office arrangements to be confirmed.

Contract: Interim, with potential to become permanent.
