HedgerWay are exclusively working with a growing technology company looking to hire a Financial Controller for the team. The company has doubled in turnover in the last year and has exciting plans to continue that growth in the next few years. This role will work closely with the Finance Director and manage a junior accountant. They are currently based in Hemel Hempstead but will be moving to Rickmansworth next year.
This role will initially look after the integration of the finance system with other operational systems (including CRM and inventory systems) across all operating entities and will then lead to the following:

Initially (c 6 months):
- Implementation of consultant recommendations for the Order to Cash process within financial, CRM and inventory systems
- Ensure effective financial controls are established and implemented in Order to cash cycle
- Training and education of sales and operational teams on financial and CRM systems
Following completion of the systems project, the role will be responsible for:
- Month end close of UK company books ensuring technically correct accounting entries in line with UK GAAP
- Ensure License and Recurring Revenues are correctly accounted for under relevant Revenue recognition accounting rules
- Preparation of monthly UK Management accounts, including P&L, Balance sheet and Cash Flow statement
- Reporting and management of UK aged debt
- Liaison with client Finance to ensure business follows client procurement system rules
- Review of controls and processes in the AP payment cycle, and implementation of improvements where needed
- Supervision of supplier payments and reconciliation of supplier accounts
- Review and improvement of Internal controls required to prepare the company for external audit (likely to be required Year end April 2023)
- Preparation of financial information for tax credits and applicable patent box requirements
- Review of existing processes for correct application and calculation of domestic and international VAT, and implementation of change where required
- Review of system calculated quarterly VAT payments, payment of monthly PAYE and annual Corporation tax submissions
- Review of accounting processes currently used for Stock and WIP, and implementation of improved procedures where necessary
- Reporting of Stock and WIP, ensuring correct accounting entries and reporting of month end figures
- Management of accounting processes and entries required for correct recognition of warranty costs
- Supervision of monthly payroll processes currently carried out by external provider in UK
Required Experience
- Qualified Accountant – preferably ACA, but CIMA and ACCA also considered, with 3-5 years ‘ post qualification experience in an SME environment
- Systems experience – strong IT systems capabilities with both accounting and other operational systems. Preference will be given to candidates with experience of system implementation projects.
- Experience with an international company and exposure to multiple currencies
- Sector experience in Technology (SaaS)
